Mrs. Ambah started her career at the International Merchant Bank (IMB) Ltd in Nigeria (then an affiliate of the First National Bank of Chicago) in December 1982. This was just after completing an M.Sc. degree in Management Science at the Imperial College of Science and Technology in the United Kingdom. Prior to that, in 1980, Mrs. Ambah had secured a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science at the University of Lagos. From IMB, she moved to Reuters Ltd in 1989 as an executive with responsibility for Nigerian sales accounts. In August 1993 she started work in First Securities Discount House Ltd (FSDH) as an Assistant General Manager.
Over the years, she rose to become an Executive Director with primary responsibility for the Corporate Banking and Corporate Finance Department, securing many valuable mandates for the organization. She also sat on the boards of various subsidiaries: FSDH Asset Management Ltd, FSDH Capital Ltd and Pensions Alliance Ltd. For Pensions Alliance Ltd (PAL), she was an integral member of the team that set up the organization and was a pioneer member of the company’s board of directors. At the end of 2012, FSDH secured a banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria and started operations as FSDH Merchant Bank Ltd early in 2013. Mrs. Ambah was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank on February 1st , 2017. She retired from the bank on April 27, 2021.
Mrs. Ambah is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB) as well as a Fellow of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers. She is an independent non-executive director on the boards of Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Company Ltd and ValuAliance Asset Management Ltd. She is also a member of the governing board of the Corona Schools Trust Council. She is married
with children.
